Live Convention in Toronto is a vibrant gathering of our subculture of the record culture. The people who learned the source material from sample-based music and got stuck in the sauce. We all care too much. Filtered bass lines, horn stabs used in remixes, versions of 12 inch versions of things. This is coded language for the uninitiated but at Live Convention we speak it. It's the Thun Language. It came from the East Coast and matured when Mobb Deep spoke it. Maybe fungus, an outbreak of mold originating in the 1970s that we all we're exposed to. Maybe it's the hunt for the unattainable is so baked into Hip Hop culture Biz referred to it in the Vapors. Whatever it is, we are all there to find it in Toronto, and that is a beautiful thing.
