Bad Acid Black Tie Affair - KaeWonder and Master Sihn

Toronto based DJ Kaewonder, who is the co-founder of cratery and Live Convention connected with Philly based producer and record nerd Master Sihn. The two share a love of psychedelic library sounds and pulled off an interesting collaborative tape that is full of fuzz drenched basslines and bugged out chops of samples strung together as a densely packed double sided DJ break mix.

Physical copies of the mix along with shirts featuring original artwork by Nep Sidhu are available directly from Prime Time Records and Tapes, the label behind the release.

So, a few years back me and my mans Mastersihn would always kick it about library music and while discussing this often overlooked kind of sterile sound, we discovered some sessions that were absolutely unhinged:
fuzz-drenched basslines, heavy 4/4 boom bap drums, electronics going for broke, essentially pre-made hip hop.

He had made a comment after I played him a record saying “that sounds like a bad acid black tie affair” and the name stuck. When he was in town he brought a handful of records, I played a handful, and over the next couple years I kept toying around and started editing the sessions.

After a conversation with my day one Famous Lee, we realized that BABTA and Prime Time were a perfect fit for a release. - Kaewonder
