DJ Personify | Welcome To New Orleans

With Mardi Gras season upon us we are revisiting DJ Personify's mix dedicated to the Big Easy! Be on the lookout for more from our city guide series featuring travel tips and mixes from a DJ who specializes in the musical history of their town.

Welcome to New Orleans: A tribute to New Orleans Funk and Soul is the work of New Orleans nativeDJ Personify. Raised in the Crescent City, the die-hard Hip-Hop fan learned early on that many of the samples he discovered originated in New Orleans. He soon became infatuated with the Funk and Soul music recorded there and has spent the better part of the last twenty years immersed in the culture of those records. Personify’s passion for New Orleans' music and culture extends to the present day and is manifested in this DJ mix masterpiece. Lovingly compiled, all of the artists featured on the mix are native to New Orleans with the exception of Hugo Montenegro who plays alongside Al Hirt (a New Orleans native) and The Headhunters, who are included here because of their work with Bill Summers (a life-long New Orleanian.) All songs and samples used on this mix were recorded from vinyl sources.

We hope you enjoy and happy Fat Tuesday!

With that in mind, we put two levered pull tabs that offer access to secondary storage spaces and a slip pocket on the back for the cards you use the most.

As a product designer, I spend a lot of time obsessing over what folks might consider mundane. Take keys, for example. There was a period of time in my life where I was splitting my time between Philly and Nashville every month. The number of times I spent looking for my keys for one thing or another, was locked out of my apartment after a trip, or was just generally disorganized as a result of having improper key discipline, are innumerable.

Our Man in Brazil: Interview with Tee Cardaci

The music of Brazil is a universe unto itself. There is an insane amount of it. I inherited a love of Bossa Jazz from my father, and the taste has slowly spread to more dancefloor-friendly Brazilian disco and funk. As a US-based record collector, finding a good and affordable source for Brazilian records has been daunting.
